UX/UI Design
User experience and user interface design.
Engaging, intuitive, human-centric experiences.
User experience design (UX)
An Internet of Things product must be functional, reliable and usable.
Only when a product is useful can users appreciate deeper levels of engagement such as joy and delight.
This foundational belief is why we first guide clients through our Product Design process.
Personas, customer journey maps, user story maps, and technical assessments from Solution Architecture are incorporated into a clickable wireframe prototype.
This prototype will allow you to navigate the screens, menus, and dialogs in an interactive wireframe format. We provide prototypes online and on mobile devices, making it easy to share with your product team, provide feedback in our system, and align key stakeholders.

User Interface (UI)
The user interface design is what the user experience will look like.
Functionality informs the design. We thoughtfully apply visuals to the approved UX wireframe. Think brand, colors, typography, motion, and graphics. Designs are crafted around end-users, guiding them without distraction from the task at hand.
This phase of software design is a process of gaining insight and feedback about a plan for an app before actually executing the app itself. Well designed, interactive apps are created in a clickable prototype prior to the investment of software development.

Clickable UI prototypes
Navigate your app from sign-in screen to log-out screen.
Clickable design prototypes produced by the UX and UI phases will give you the chance to view and interact with your application before Outside Source writes a single line of code.
However, at times the best approach is simultaneous (dual-track) agile design and development phases. We don’t believe in one-size-fits-all software development and will work with you to determine the proper path to meet your goals.
Online prototypes
Prototypes can be shared online with your team in a password-protected environment. Provide feedback on any screen and tag team members.
Mobile app prototype
Mobile and tablet prototypes can be viewed directly in your smartphone or device, giving you the ability to interact with the design in its true environment.
Feedback and Usability Testing
UI prototypes are a great way to field test your app. Users can navigate the app in its entirety from their smartphone or computer. They can note areas of improvement and provide design feedback before code development begins.
Streamline development process
Simulate the real product
Provide internal feedback
Gather user insights
Iterate at a lower cost
Save development time and money
Process
Team members typically include a UX/UI designer and solution architect with guidance from software engineering roles.
1
UX Wireframe
Based on Solution Architecture findings, we will create a clickable wireframe prototype to determine if the team understands the functionality and the workflow of the end-user.
2
UX Review Meetings
Review your app's screens in detail with Outside Source to see if the overall user experience aligns with your initial expectations and goals for the application.
3
UI Wireframe
Apply aesthetics and branding to your app, including fonts, colors, icons, graphics, and interactions. The clickable prototype is functional, allowing users to view and navigate the app from their computer or smartphone.
4
UI Review Meetings
Interact with your UI design. You’ll have the chance to provide feedback about the look and feel of the design and interactions. We will work together to answer any unaddressed questions before development starts.
